This past weekend our club hosted a USFS Testing Session. USFS testing is the official curriculum of the United States Figure Skating Association and is the backbone of the program. The test sessions are presided over by official USFS judges and a passing test moves the skater to the next level on the skating track. Our skaters participated in moves in the field tests (test that demonstrate specific skating skills) and free skating tests (programs that require a certain number of mandatory elements be performed). These tests are considered the Olympic Track for any skater interested in pursuing high level goals and their passion as a skilled figure skater. These official tests are only offered through USFS sanctioned figure skating clubs, and BIFSC is proud to be able to offer this level of testing to our community. We are lucky enough to have a National level judge in our community who was recently in San Diego judging at the 2018 National competition. This competition is paramount in selecting the members of the US Olympic team.
We are proud of all of our skaters that participated in this past Saturday’s testing session. It can be a nerve racking experience with celebrations and disappointments but that didn’t hold any of our skaters back. With testing behind us, we can now start to focus on our next goal which is preparing for competition in Eugene at the 2018 Love To Skate Competition on March 10th.
If you would like to learn more about USFS testing please get in contact with us. There are tests available for all ages and all levels of skating.
