The Bend Ice FSC Development Academy

The Bend Ice FSC Development Academy follows the official skating curriculum that is provided by Learn to Skate USA, a division of the United States Figure Skating Association.  It provides a bridge between the Bend Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) skating program and your path to joining the Bend Ice FSC and participating in our club events and performances.  Skaters learn from Bend Ice FSC’s Learn to Skate USA certified instructors through a curriculum that is designed to build on existing skills and advance through solid and FUNdamental skill progression.

Development Academy offers skaters a combination of group instruction and free skate over the period spanning December 4 – February 1 (excluding the holiday break).  Each skater will receive a total of seven 30-minute group instruction sessions on Wednesdays, seven 30-minute group instruction sessions on Saturdays, and seven 30-minute free skate sessions after each Saturday group instruction session.  Additionally, all Development Academy skaters will have the opportunity to participate in Learn to Skate USA testing–administered by Bend Ice FSC’s certified coaches–on Saturday, February 1 from 7:30am – 8:30am. 

To be eligible for the Development Academy skaters must have already passed either BPRD Level 3 or Learn to Skate USA Basic 3. If you are wondering if your skater qualifies to participate please reach out to us at chair@bendfigureskatingclub.org and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
